NNA - Caretaker Information Minister Ziad Al-Makari denounced Saturday the repeated incidents of threats and attacks on journalists, considering it a "dangerous indicator that affects freedom of expression and threatens the safety of journalists while performing their professional duty."

The Information Minister had closely followed-up on the attack against the head of the office of the "National News Agency" in Iqlim al-Kharroub region, Ahmad Mansour, expressing his condemnation of the incident that took place.

In this context, Minister Makari conducted a series of contacts with those concerned, and called on officials in the security services to respect the work of journalists and not to infringe on them during their work under any pretext, saying that "physical harm is completely unacceptable and everyone must abide by the general laws and regulations in force."
