NNA - Today, at the premises of the Embassy of Italy in Beirut, Ambassador Nicoletta Bombardiere bestowed the knighthood of the Order of the Star of Italy upon the Italian and Lebanese architect William Sawaya for his very important contribution to cultural, artistic and economic tiesbetween Lebanon and Italy.

Since the mid-70s and for over forty years of activity, architect Sawaya has contributed to the international success of the important Milanese design studio Sawaya e Moroni, decisively strengthening the synergies between the Italian and Lebanese schools of design, and becoming a point of reference for contemporary design and architecture in Europe and around the world. -- Embassy of Italy Beirut
