NNA - MP Boutros Harb on Wednesday warned against attempts to postpone legislative elections and the formation of a government headed by outgoing Prime Minister Najib Mikati or other candidates.
"This endangers the democratic system," said Harb after meeting with UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Derek Plumbly.
The MP said he had discussed with Plumbly the needs of Lebanon in light of the Syrian events.
"We briefed Plumbly of the perils endangering Lebanon and affirmed the importance of joint work between the Lebanese state, the caretaker government and us," he said.
On the new electoral law, Harb deemed it necessary to proceed with contacts with all political components to agree upon an electoral law and hold the legislative elections on time.
Harb said forming a new government was of the President and Premier's prerogatives and any threat to these prerogatives shall tamper with the system.
