The Secretary General of the Association of Islamic Universities, Dr. Sami Al-Sharif, explained that the conference comes at an important time, noting that the conference topic was chosen because the Islamic world is going through serious challenges as a result of the distortion of the image of Islam and Muslims.
He stressed that this image requires establishing bridges with the West and with the other to correct the image of Muslims, highlighting the efforts undertaken by the Muslim World League represented in undertaking many initiatives to establish bridges of cooperation and understanding between the East and the West. The international conference also reviewed "Building Bridges Between Islamic Sects" through its sessions entitled "Practical Initiatives to Bring Views Closer to Followers of Sects," which was organized by the Muslim World League yesterday, where the session was chaired by the President of Alexandria University in the Arab Republic of Egypt, Dr. Abdulaziz Qansuh.
The President of Pattani University in Thailand, Dr. Ismail Lutfi Javakia, explained that the difference between the nation's scholars has existed since the days of the Companions and the Salaf and is part of human nature. He called for the importance of not separating the sectarian scientific movement from the educational advocacy movement, and for organizing the field of fatwa to preserve societal unity.
