NNA - In a poignant address to the United Nations General Assembly on March 4, 2024, Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees) highlighted the dire situation facing Palestine refugees. 

The Commissioner-General emphasized that UNRWA, established 75 years ago as a temporary measure, is now at a critical juncture, struggling to fulfill its mandate amidst escalating challenges.

The Commissioner-General underscored the urgent need for a political solution to the Palestine issue, calling on member states to take decisive action to facilitate peace between Palestinians and Israelis. Against the backdrop of a severe financial crisis and a devastating humanitarian situation in Gaza, the Commissioner-General appealed for immediate support to sustain UNRWA's life-saving operations.
