NNA - A commander in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard survived an assassination attempt and the death of his guard

Iranian state media reported this morning that gunmen opened fire on a car carrying a senior commander of the Revolutionary Guards in the volatile southeast of Iran, killing his bodyguard.

Reuters news agency quoted the official Iranian news agency as saying that Brigadier General Hossein al-Masi, commander of the Revolutionary Guards in the province of Sistan and Baluchestan, was unharmed after the attack, and that the attackers were arrested.

The agency said that Mahmoud Absalan, the bodyguard who was killed in the attack, which took place near a checkpoint in Zahedan, the provincial capital, is the son of a senior commander of the Revolutionary Guards in the region. --- EMARA
