Mikati responds to accepting a European bribe to keep the displaced in Lebanon: What is happening is a malicious attempt to thwart any governmental solution

NNA - The media office of caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati denied, in a statement issued today, talk about Lebanon receiving a European bribe to keep the displaced on its lands.

“This is not true, while emphasizing that this donation is absolutely unconditional and is approved by the Lebanese in accordance with the procedures followed when accepting donations," the statement said.

"What is happening is a malicious attempt to thwart any governmental solution, under false pretexts and accusations," it added, stressing that the effort will continue by the Prime Minister during the Brussels conference before the end of this month.

Commenting on the one billion euro package approved by the European Union for Lebanon, Mikati stressed that this aid is unconditional for Lebanon and for the Lebanese exclusively, and includes the sectors of health, education, social protection, and the poorest families, in addition to assistance to the army and security forces, including public security and internal security forces, to control the land borders.
