Mikati holds series of meetings at Grand Serail, discusses overall situation with French, EU, Swiss Ambassadors, meets Caretaker Ministers of Environment, Water and Energy

NNA – Caretaker Prime Minister, Prime Minister-designate, Najib Mikati, on Monday held a series of diplomatic and ministerial meetings at the Grand Serail.

In this context, Caretaker Premier Mikati met with French Ambassador to Lebanon, Anne Grillo.

"We discussed the final touches on the maritime border demarcation file, in addition to the economic and financial conditions and the pressing need to enact the reforms and move forward with an agreement with the International Monetary Fund," Grillo told reporters following the meeting.

She added that talks also touched on the upcoming constitutional junctures.

In response to a question about consultations between Paris and Riyadh over the election of a new president, the diplomat said: "We are holding dialogue with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia over many affairs."

PM Mikati also met with the EU Ambassador to Lebanon, Ralph Tarraf, who said on emerging: “The meeting was excellent with Prime Minister Mikati, and we discussed political issues in Lebanon and the urgent need to implement what was agreed upon in the framework plan that was signed between Lebanon and the International Monetary Fund last April.”

Miakti later received Swiss Ambassador to Lebanon, Marion Weichelt, with whom he discussed the current general situation.

On the other hand, Mikati met with Caretaker Minister of Environment, Nasser Yassin, who said after the meeting that after the meeting that they discussed affairs related to the Ministry and an array of environmental issues.

Mikati also held a meeting with Minister of Energy and Water, Dr. Walid Fayyad, Electricité du Liban Director General Kamal Hayek, and Director General of the Oil Administration Aurore Feghali.

Following the meeting, Minister Fayyad said that they discussed the issue of obtaining fuel in order to increase the electricity supply hours.

Moreover, the PM met a delegation from the Merhi Charity Association, in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Higher Relief Commission, Major General Mohammad Khair.

Discussions touched on the charitable and social activities as well as the lighting projects carried out by the Association in Tripoli and the region in coordination with the official departments and the Higher Relief Commission.
