Discussion of European Union sanctions against Israel begins

NNA - Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo said that Belgium has begun discussions about possible European Union trade sanctions against Israel due to its actions in the Gaza Strip, which led to the killing of more than 34,000 people, according to "Russia Today".

De Croo added, according to what was reported by the Belgian newspaper "Soar", that the Belgian government "had already decided a few weeks ago to impose trade sanctions on Israel. But if Belgium imposes these sanctions itself, the trade routes will simply change. That is why we have been discussing for several weeks with other European countries how can we do this?"

De Croo pointed out, “This problem must be solved without declaring it out loud. The European Union has concluded an association agreement with Israel, which includes conditions related to human rights.”

The European Union had previously imposed sanctions on Israeli settlers for the first time due to violence against Palestinians in the West Bank.
