For his part, at the beginning of his meeting with Yellen, Li Qiang expressed his hope that their two countries would be "partners, not adversaries."

He confirmed to Yellen that Chinese Internet users have been closely following her visit to their country since she arrived in Guangzhou this week, noting that their interest shows “expectations and hope for an improvement in the relationship between China and the United States.”
