NNA - Russian presidential candidate and current head of state, Vladimir Putin, cast his vote on Friday in the 2024 Russian presidential elections, via electronic voting, according to "Russia Today".

Putin used this method to cast his vote on several occasions over the past few years, and the Russian president was participating remotely in the unified voting day in the fall (the country's legislative elections).

It is worth noting that online voting is used for the first time in the presidential elections in Russia (it is available in about a third of the country's regions).

Nearly 2.6 million Russians cast early ballots in the election. The Russian Election Commission announced that voting in the country's presidential election will continue for 3 days.

Four candidates are competing in these elections: President Vladimir Putin, an independent candidate, the candidate of the Russian Liberal Democratic Party, Leonid Slutsky, the candidate of the Russian Communist Party, Nikolai Kharitonov, and the candidate of the New People's Party, Vladislav Davankov.

According to data from the Russian Central Election Commission, the voter turnout rate in the presidential elections in Russia as of 17:31 Moscow time on the first day of voting reached 25.03%.
