NNA - Initial reports say the assailant is unknown but has now been detained by police after the attack left many injured at a "major" Paris train station.

The incident comes three weeks after a man stabbed six people at Paris' Gare du Nord train station before being shot by police.

Police confirmed the attack took place at the major Gare de Lyon Paris train hub at 8:00am local time.

So far there has been no motive established behind the incident.
