NNA - Today, Saturday, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on terminating the validity of Ukrainian citizenship for Russian citizens who hold this nationality and wish to give it up, according to "Novosti" news agency.

The law stipulates that citizens of the Russian Federation who hold Ukrainian citizenship and wish to give it up, it can be withdrawn from them from the date of submitting a request for this purpose to the Russian Ministry of Interior.

The website of the legal information portal stated, "The use of this mechanism should guarantee the right to be able to work in governmental and municipal bodies... and also guarantee them the right to education in government institutions."

The legal portal indicated that the purpose of this law is to facilitate a number of issues for citizens, explaining that Ukrainian citizenship is in some cases an obstacle.
