NNA- The American Institute of Geophysics reported that a 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck today the island of Hokkaido in northern Japan, and the epicenter was determined at a depth of 42.9 km, as it affected coastal cities without leading to a tsunami warning, according to "Agence France Presse".

The Japanese media has not yet reported any material losses or injuries.
