Depositors Union protests for swift repayment of deposits

NNA – Lebanon’s Depositors Union on Thursday staged a protest at 11:00 a.m. outside the Lebanese Central Bank in Hamra, following decisions made at the Depositors and Lawyers Forum.

Protesters, including depositors, lawyers, and activists, called for the prompt repayment of deposits and compensation for losses, particularly for those in Lebanese pounds. Secretary-General George Khater demanded the acting Governor of the Central Bank's resignation and urged legal action against Central Bank members.

MP Charbel Masri praised efforts to propose a law ensuring deposit repayment. Depositors emphasized unity and determination in retrieving their deposits, criticizing the current banking system. The protest aimed to pressure banks to address depositors' grievances.
