NNA - On the occasion of the Resistance and Liberation Day, Lebanese Army Commander General Joseph Aoun issued the following Order of the Day:

“Fellow troops,

On this 24th anniversary of the Resistance and Liberation Day, Lebanon continues to face daily aggression and violations from the Israeli enemy, who has been waging a war of annihilation against the Palestinian people for almost 7 months now. While the current attacks far exceed previous ones in their scale of destruction and casualties, yet, they are part of a protracted legacy of hostile actions perpetrated by the enemy against our homeland over the past decades.

This commemorative occasion is tied to a pivotal historical milestone - the liberation of the majority of our land from Israeli occupation and the confrontation of its greed for our land and resources. More than ever, this day reminds us that preserving the accomplishment of liberation necessitates national unity and working in the paramount interests of the homeland.

Fellow troops,

Your actions have embodied the genuine sincerity of your dedication to the military mission, the unwavering strength of your military doctrine, and the steadfast determination to stand by your people and fulfill your duties, no matter how arduous the circumstances. This has made you the beacon of hope for the Lebanese, the source of their strength, the driving force behind their perseverance, the guarantee for Lebanon amid its current challenges, and the recipient of trust from its friend countries. We must also acknowledge the exceptional support initiatives carried out by the armed forces of these nations, as well as the contributions of the Lebanese residing both at home and abroad. These initiatives make an essential contribution to strengthening the LAF’s capacity to confront challenges, uphold its national responsibilities, and ensure the continuity of its role and performance. That in addition to working in coordination with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in accordance with Resolution 1701, while simultaneously combating terrorism and monitoring the security situation across all regions, as well as controlling and securing the borders to the extent of the available capabilities.

Fellow troops,

The exceptional circumstances demand that all parties unify their efforts, transcend narrow self-interests, and uphold the full measure of responsibility, as it is the sole path forward to reviving our homeland and its institutions.

The LAF will remain, as it has always been, the refuge of the Lebanese and the source of their strength.  It will steadfastly uphold the path of honor, sacrifice and loyalty, remaining true to the legacy of its martyrs who have consecrated the soil of our homeland with their blood, and will never hesitate to fulfill its duty, no matter how great the sacrifices required.”
