NNA - Lebanese Army Commander, General Joseph Aoun, on Monday received at his Yarzeh office, the European Commission's Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi.

Discussions reportedly touched on the general situation in Lebanon and the region and developments along the southern border.

Maj. Gen. Aoun also welcomed Deputy Chief of the British Defense Staff, Marshal Harvey Smyth, in the presence of UK Ambassador to Lebanon, Hamish Cowell, and Military Attaché Lieutenant Colonel Lee Richard Saunders.

The army commander then received the Italian Joint Operations Commander, General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo, at the head of an accompanying delegation.

Discussions touched on ways of cooperation between the Lebanese Army and the British and Italian armies.
