Bou Habib discusses with Greek officials repercussions of Gaza War, displacement issue

NNA - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Abdullah Bou Habib, ended his visit to Greece by meeting with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, where he handed him an invitation from Prime Minister Najib Mikati to visit Lebanon.

Minister Bou Habib also hoped that his country would intervene in coordination with other countries to fully implement Security Council Resolution 1701 “in order to achieve calm and stability in southern Lebanon.”

During the meeting, Bou Habib stressed "the importance of cooperation with Greece and other like-minded European countries to formulate a new European policy on the issue of Syrian displacement, based on helping the displaced to return to their villages and towns in Syria in order to rebuild them."

He also met with the Deputy Speaker of the Greek Parliament, Ioannis Plekiotakis, and explained Lebanon’s position of rejection and call for stopping the ongoing war in Gaza, and its attempts to reduce the escalation on the southern Lebanese border, “to prevent it from being lured into a war that it does not want or seek.”

Discussions also touched on "the danger of displacement on the essence of the Lebanese formula, and the importance of joint cooperation in this common challenge."

Finally, Minister Bou Habib met with the Greek-Lebanese Parliamentary Friendship Committee.
