NNA - Representative Frank Wolf of Virginia's10th district visited Lebanon today as part of a regional tour focusing on the political and security situation in the region, assistance to Syrian refugees, and Christian faith communities in the Middle East.
Representative Wolf met with United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) officials and toured UNHCR's refugee center in Beirut and the Caritas center in Zahle; at both locations he met with families to learn about the challenges they faced in Syria and their experiences since arriving in Lebanon.
Yesterday, Representative Wolf met with President Michel Sleiman, Prime Minister Najib Mikati, Minister of Social Affairs Wael Abou Faour, Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros al-Rai, and the Syriac League.
Representative Wolf further underscored the commitment of the United States to a stable, sovereign and independent Lebanon.
