Marouni: Electoral bill will not spoil March 14 alliance

NNA - "Kataeb" bloc member Deputy Elie Marouni said the election law will not be at the cost of March 14 alliance.

"Kataeb is keen on March 14 alliance because it is based on fundamentals, principles and on the martyrs blood," the MP confirmed.

He told "Free Lebanon' radio that despite all the rumors his bloc would always be attached to March 14 unity.

Marouni said that the ball is now in the court of MP Walid Jumblatt, who should accept small districts law with some amendments, adding that "the door of communication is wide open and there are continuous attempts to reach a consensual law, and even Speaker of the House Nabih Berri stresses this matter, therefore there are many alternatives to Orthodox law like small districts and hybrid bill."

The MP said that President of the Republic Michel Sleiman has the right to contest any law which does not provide constants entrusted by the Constitution.

"There may be technical delay of the election for couple of months, because any new law calls for the postponement for logistical reasons," the MP added.

He concluded that if Orthodox law is approved and Sleiman's contest is approved then the MPs should continue their efforts to reach another law that provides inter/Lebanese consensus.
