NNA - Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, met Thursday at the Grand Serail with the Norwegian Deputy Foreign Minister, Torgeir Larsen, over the current situation prevailing in Syria and its reverberations on Lebanon.

Speaking to reporters following the meeting, Larsen said he reiterated to the Prime Minister Norway's support for the work of the Lebanese government and for the Lebanese people, pertaining to the humanitarian condition of the issue of Syrians displaced into Lebanon.

"Norway responded to the work plan of the Lebanese government regarding the displaced. We have thus far offered an amount of USD 10 million to assist the displaced during their stay in Lebanon," he added.

"Norway also hailed the decision of the Lebanese government to keep Lebanon's borders open," he indicated.

Larsen pointed out to the meeting in Kuwait end January, during a conference for the donor countries to provide more funding to the displaced into Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey, Iraq, and other countries.
