Islamic National Gathering lambasts presence of wounded Syrian Minister in Lebanon

NNA - The presence in Beirut of Syrian Interior Minister Mohammad Chaar for treatment drew ire for the Islamic National Gathering, which met Thursday at the residence of MP Mohammad Kabbara, and lambasted the government for flouting its self-declared dissociation policy.

Chaar arrived in Lebanon yesterday for medical treatment, a week after bombers attacked the Interior Ministry in Central Damascus.

"Receiving Chaar in Lebanon confirms that the government, which claimed the dissociation policy, is plunging in its dependence on and affiliation with the Syrian regime," conferees said in a statement.

They called to put Chaar under judicial guardianship and then to forward it before the competent judiciary "on charges of crimes against humanity in Tripoli."

Besides, they sternly rejected, part and parcel, the accusations lobbed against Tripoli of turning into an Islamist Emirate. "This scheme was thwarted by the Lebanese Army," they said, in indirect response to a former statement by Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, who has said that this northern city would have become an emirate, had it not been for the deployment of the army.
