Mikati: let us agree on election law after which cabinet will resign

NNA - Prime Minister, Najib Mikati renewed his demand for sitting around the national dialogue table, in order for all political sides to agree on a parliamentary election law, "and after then, the present government will resign to form another one prone to observe upcoming parliamentary elections."

Mikati's fresh stance came Thursday in the context of an interview on Arabiyya Channel.

"I voice support for forming a new government, yet leaving the country go into vacuum is something unacceptable at all," said Mikati.

He urged that elections must take place before the end of June "as such date is the right, constitutional and must be respected, regardless who the Prime Minister is during that time."

According to the Prime Minister, "Had it not been for the current government, chaos would have spread to wide extent."

Turning to the salaries scale issue, Mikati said the government is studying the issue on the basis of reconciling between laborers' and employees' rights on one hand and the financial situation on the other.
