Minassian broaches developments with Greek Ambassador

NNA - Catholicos-Patriarch Raphaël Bedros XXI Minassian of the Armenian Catholics on Tuesday welcomed Greek Ambassador to Lebanon, Despina Koukoulopoulou, at the patriarchal headquarters in Jdeidet Mar Taqla.

Following the meeting, the Greek diplomat expressed her pride in visiting “this venerable religious institution, vibrant with faith and testimony, and the role Patriarch Minassian plays in raising the voice of the Church and strengthening relations with other churches."

According to a statement from the Patriarchate, both sides discussed "the role of the Greek state in Lebanon and its support for the country and its people, who are suffering under various crises threatening their livelihood and stability."

The pair emphasized "the importance of enhancing the relationship between the Armenian and Greek peoples on various levels."

On the national front, they touched upon the presidential deadlock in Lebanon, expressing hope for the election of a president as soon as possible, as the country is no longer able to withstand the collapse amid the deafening silence towards it and its people. They noted that this situation is affecting both the living and economic conditions, threatening humanitarian security.

In conclusion, Patriarch Minassian thanked the Greek ambassador for her "fruitful visit and the role of the Greek embassy in Lebanon in serving the Church's children and the nation, and for the facilitations it provides to our people," affirming that "the Patriarchate is like her second home."
