National Islamic Gathering calls army to fairly apply security plan in Tripoli

NNA - The National Islamic Gathering upped calls Thursday on the Lebanese army to resume the implementation of a plan aimed to restore peace and security in rattled Tripoli, stressing the necessity that military measures are tightened and law is enforced equally and without discrimination between the city's belligerent localities.

Conferees, who met at the residence of MP Mohammad Kabbara, also called the Internal Security Forces to assume their mission throughout Tripoli streets and back the army in executing the security plan.

They maintained that the political authority, the state, and the army command must prove their keenness on Tripoli's security and the safety of its residents.

They said the Gathering's meetings were still open and that they were keenly keeping tabs on the implementation of the security plan, especially in terms of repressing the violations of armed groups in Jabal Mohsen, perpetrated "in favor of the Syrian and Iranian regimes."
