Charbel: last minute solutions can't build a state

NNA - Caretaker Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Marwan Charbel, said Friday that waiting for the last minute every time there is a legislative due date does not build the sought state.

He said growth, prosperity, and stability could not wait for the caretaker phase to end.

He added that national unity and democracy were sacred, and that only dialogue would protect unity and stability.

Charbel made these remarks during a ceremony Lebanon's Mayors League hosted in his honor.

In his word, the Minister did not fail to shed light on the pivotal role assumed by mayors nationwide.

"Mayors link the state to its sons. They play a leading role in enhancing civil peace, as they are capable of assuming a role of mediation," he said.
