NNA - "Social National" Bloc member Marwan Fares said that Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP) and Bloc categorically reject any sectarian electoral law, that affects social unity and puts barriers among the Lebanese.
Deputy Fares's words came in his speech during a session of the joint parliamentary committees at the House of Parliament on Wednesday.
MP Fares regretted the "sectarian climate prevailing during discussions over the forthcoming parliamentary electoral law," saying such a climate is harmful to the national interest and the future of the Lebanese.
"The sectarian atmosphere that dominates over discussions on the electoral law is unhealthy... Lebanon can neither live nor survive amidst consecration of sectarian texts," Fares said.
Fares said SSNP vehemently rejects any poll law that tampers with Lebanese unity and confiscates citizens' right to choosing their representatives at the House of Parliament.
