NNA - Prime Minister Najib Mikati met Saturday at his Tripoli residence a delegation from the Higher Islamic Council headed by deputy of Mufti of the Republic, Omar Mesqawi, who asserted that the Council is the only body that has the authority to call for election of its members.
"We would like useful elections that are able of giving the Council the ability to control the performance of Dar al-Fatwa, including the Mufti's."
Mesqawi alerted that calling for elections without granting the Higher Islamic Council the ability to monitor them was "extremely dangerous."
