Israeli security meeting tonight to discuss Trump's "ultimatum" to Hamas

NNA - Sky News Arabia quoted Israeli media today that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will hold a meeting tonight to discuss the continuation of the ceasefire with Hamas, in light of the warning issued by US President Donald Trump to the movement.

It explained that the security meeting will be attended by Defense Minister Yisrael Katz, Israel's Ambassador to the United States Yehiel Leiter, and security service leaders.

The Israeli Walla website revealed that the consultations will begin at a time when Trump's deadline ends, according to which Hamas must release all hostages in its hands or the ceasefire in Gaza will end.

This comes while Israel has not yet officially announced whether it is committed to this ultimatum or not.

Trump had said that the decision to set a date for the release of the hostages is up to Israel, after Hamas released the three Israeli hostages today.

Trump continued in a post on his platform "Truth Social": "Hamas just released three hostages from Gaza, including an American citizen. They appear to be doing well."

In a sign that Hamas has backed down from a threat to delay the handover of the Israeli hostages on Saturday, Trump said: "This is different from their statement last week that they would not release any hostages." He added that "Israel will now have to decide what to do about the deadline set for the release of all hostages at 12 noon today."

Trump stressed that the United States will support Israel in the decision it will make.
