NNA - Caretaker Defense Minister, Maurice Sleem, on Monday received letters from Italian Defense Minister, Guido Crosetto, and Spanish Defense Minister, Margarita Robles, delivered by Italian Ambassador to Lebanon, Fabrizio Marcelli, and Spanish Ambassador, Jesus Santos Aguado.

The letters, addressed to UN Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations, Jean-Pierre Lacroix, and relevant authorities, proposed measures to enhance UNIFIL's implementation of Resolution 1701, emphasizing coordination with the military technical committee.

Sleem stressed the close cooperation between UNIFIL and the Lebanese Army to fully implement the resolution and highlighted the importance of maintaining Lebanon's stability amidst developments in Syria, with the Army ensuring national security and protecting borders.
