NNA - Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Abdullah Bou Habib, on Thursday welcomed the Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations at the United Nations, Jean-Pierre Lacroix, UNIFIL head of mission and Commander-in-Chief, Major General Aroldo Lazaro, and an accompanying delegation. 

Talks reportedly focused on the ill-fated Al-Aqbiya incident, as well as the maritime boundary demarcation agreement with Israel. 

The Under-Secretary-General stressed UNIFIL's adherence to the best of relations with the local communities in south Lebanon, stressing the importance of cooperation with the Lebanese Army.

In turn, Minister Bou Habib affirmed "Lebanon's great appreciation for UNIFIL’s role in maintaining security and stability in the country’s southern region.”

He also called on the United Nations to "strictly condemn and prevent the continuous Israeli land, sea, and air violations of Lebanese sovereignty and of resolution 1701.”
