NNA - Former Lebanese House Speaker, Hussein Al-Husseini, died on Wednesday morning at the age of 86.
"Today Lebanon has lost an authentic national and constitutional figure,” Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati said, adding that Al-Husseini's presence constituted a milestone in the history of Lebanon’s parliamentary work.
Hussein Al-Husseini was a Lebanese politician and former speaker of the Lebanese parliament, whose efforts in brokering and fathering the Taif Agreement led to the end of the Lebanese Civil War in 1990.
Al-Husseini was also a co-founder of the Amal Movement. He succeeded Musa al-Sadr as leader of the Amal Movement until 1980.
