Geagea hails elections’ outcome, says Hezbollah and FPM lost parliamentary majority

NNA - In the wake of the “Strong Republic" Parliamentary Bloc’s meeting, Lebanese Forces Party Leader, Samir Geagea, on Thursday said that one of the paradoxes that took place in the 2022 parliamentary elections was that many symbols of the Syrian regime and Hezbollah have lost their spots at the House of Parliament.

“The resounding outcome of elections was Hezbollah and the Free Patriotic Movement’s loss of the Parliamentary majority,” he added.

“We got 200,000 preferential votes while the Free Patriotic Movement got only 130,000 preferential votes,” Geagea noted.

“Hezbollah Secretary-General, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, said in his speech yesterday that there was no majority in the new parliament while the truth is that the new blocs produced by elections see eye-to-eye on a number of main points, namely sovereignty, illegal weapons, and corruption,” Geagea added.

He also declared that "the requirements of the new House Speaker’s post do not apply to House Speaker Nabih Berri."
