NNA - "Unwanted guests" of locusts have been swarming all over the country since early morning today.
Swarms of locusts are capable of inflicting enormous damage on everything green as the memory of "Great War" survivors' could recount; devouring in seconds 100,000 tons of foliage could threaten the livelihood of one million people for one complete year, as far as scientific evidence tells.
Government officials have been trying meanwhile to allay fears by confirming that the charade will dissipate in no time and that the actual invading swarms were not of the devouring type. According to Mahmoud Bou-Zeid of the ministry of Agriculture, changing weather conditions are prone to drive locusts away.
Michel Afram of the Agronomy Research Center corroborated Bou-Zayd's account, while Environmental expert and activist Wilson Rizq stated that each species of locusts requires the deployment of special pesticides. Rizq allayed fears to the effect that overnight would bring forth no major surprises and that the nightmare would be soon over.
