NNA - Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Judge Bassam Mawlawi, on Monday welcomed Head of the Election Observation Committee, Judge Nadim Abdel Malak, with whom he discussed the activities of the current committee — “at the absence of a new one due to the council of minister’s failure to hold cabinet sessions and appoint a new committee.”

Mawlawi stressed the paramount importance of having the election observation committee carry out its duties in terms of supervision and control over the electoral process, especially with regard to electoral spending and advertising.

For his part, Abdel Malak briefed Mawlawi on the committee’s needs to keep pace with the ongoing preparations for the upcoming parliamentary elections.
