NNA - The European Union confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin bears "ultimate responsibility" for the death of opposition figure Alexei Navalny, on the first anniversary of his death in a Siberian prison, according to Agence France-Presse.

The European Union said in a statement, “Today marks one year since the death of Russian opposition political leader Alexei Navalny, for which President Putin and the Russian authorities bear ultimate responsibility,” calling for the release of all political prisoners, adding, "Navalny sacrificed his life for a free and democratic Russia."
