NNA - The German Foreign Ministry on Monday described the Israeli government's decision to close the Qatari Al Jazeera channel as a "bad indicator" for press freedom, according to Agence France-Presse.

The Ministry stressed that "a free and diverse press is an important pillar of any liberal democracy, especially in times of crisis, and it is necessary to protect press freedom."
