NNA - Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson confirmed that the possible closure of the Russian Consulate General in Sydney (Australia) will not pass without a response from Moscow, according to "Novosti" news agency.

"Canberra realizes that if it continues down this path, it will not pass without a response from us," the Russian spokesperson said during a press conference held on Wednesday, explaining that the response to the possible closure of the Consulate General would be in the form of retaliatory measures against the Australian Embassy in Russia.

Earlier, the Australian Foreign Minister expressed her opposition to the initiative to close the Russian Consulate General in Sydney, and pointed to "the importance of maintaining diplomatic contacts with Moscow."
