NNA - Taiwan's military announced that it "spotted several Chinese planes and ships operating in the Taiwan Strait today," saying they simulated an attack on the self-ruled island, as reported by AFP.  

"Taipei forces have spotted several groups of communist aircraft and ships conducting activities around the Taiwan Strait, some of them across the midline. They are believed to be simulating an attack on the main island of Taiwan," Taiwan's Defense Ministry said in a statement today.
