NNA – Today, at IIC’s premises in Hamra, the Italian Cultural Institute (IIC) in Beirut and the publishing house Dar Al Saqi presented the Arabic version of the book “Un Amore – حُب” by Dino Buzzati translated into Arabic, by Rami Tawil.

The translation of the novel was made possible thanks to a Translation Grant awarded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and has been published earlier this year by Dar Al Saqi.
In 1963, more than twenty years after the publication of his masterpiece Il Deserto dei Tartari [The Tartar Steppe], Dino Buzzati’s last novel, probably autobiographical, is published. “Un Amore”, or the story of the intrusion of passion, a disorder in the life of an honorable architect in his fifties from Milan.
Descending from the rarefied surrealist and metaphysical atmosphere of “The Tartar Steppe” and “The Seven Messengers,” Dino Buzzati now plunges headlong into the realistic hurly‐burly of contemporary metropolitan Milanese life. Despite the abrupt change in environment and the radical drop in altitude, the basic constants of Buzzati's art remain untouched. The introspective vision of life, the harrowing, systematic doubts, the compulsive self‐questionings are all present.
Dino Buzzati, a very prominent Italian journalist, dramatist, short-story writer and novelist is internationally known for his fictions and plays. His literary works, known for Kafkaesque surrealism, symbolism and absurdity, are translated into 30 languages all over the world. Arab readers will certainly enjoy such a pleasant journey through love, passion and desire.
Dar Al Saqi, known for its meticulous and very fine selection of translations, believes that Buzzati’s Un Amore, shows an outstanding skill and has an unusually conventional narrative style.
Dar Al Saqi published many translations of important works from the Italian literature, among which: Impossibile by Erri De Luca, Il Treno dei Bambini by Viola Ardone, Per Isabel and Il filo dell'orizzonte by Antonio Tabucchi, Mal Di Pietre by Milena Agus. 
Rami Tawil, a novelist and screenwriter, has previously collaborated with Dar Al Saqi for the translation of the novel Impossibile by Erri De Luca published in Arabic during the last year.
