NNA – Caretaker Minister of Education and Higher Education, Dr. Abbas Al-Halabi, on Wednesday received the new British Ambassador to Lebanon, Hamish Cowell, who came on a courtesy visit upon his assumption of his diplomatic mission in the country.

Caretaker Minister Al-Halabi welcomed the British ambassador, stressing "the depth of historic, cultural and educational ties between the two countries."

Al-Halabi also briefed Ambassador Cowell on the atmosphere of preparations for the new school year and the needs of public schools, teachers and administrations at the various financial and operational levels.

The pair also held a tour d’horizon on the current general situation in Lebanon and the region.
