Halabi, UNESCO’s Farina tour newly rehabilitated schools

NNA - Minister of Education, Dr. Abbas Al-Halabi, and UNESCO Regional Office Director in Beirut, Costanza Farina, on Tuesday toured a number of public schools that have been renovated and rehabilitated in the wake of Beirut Port explosion.

Al-Halabi thanked UNESCO “which has taken upon itself the responsibility of restoring 95 public and private schools, 20 technical and vocational schools, and three universities, as well as providing equipment and coordinating aid to schools, universities, and professions. UNESCO has carried out its tasks to the fullest extent, whether in terms of restoring historical or modern heritage buildings, and thus it has preserved its mission as an international organization.”

In turn, Farina thanked Minister Al-Halabi for the cooperation and harmony between the ministry and UNESCO’s regional office, "which gives mutual confidence and aspiration for a better future, especially since the work conditions amid the spread of a pandemic constituted a challenge from which we have learned a lot from.”
