NNA - The Association of Banks in Lebanon (ABL) on Friday issued the following statement:

"After the repeated attacks on banks and the physical assaults on bank employees and their dignity, which were carefully detailed in the statement of the Federation of Syndicates of Banks Employees in Lebanon yesterday, as well as after taking into account the risks faced by customers inside the branches subjected to storming operations.... The Board of Directors of the Association took a decision to close the banks on 19-20-21 September in denunciation of what’s happening and in order to take the necessary regulatory measures.”

The statement added: “The Board of Directors will meet early next week to consider the next steps.”
