NNA - Following the closing of ballot boxes after a long electoral day in the governorates of South Lebanon and Nabatieh, Interior and Municipalities Minister, Ahmad Al-Hajjar, affirmed that "the Lebanese people exercised their democratic right, and this is the most important thing," adding, "We hope that these elections will be a prelude to renewing work vitality in the various municipalities."
Speaking at the Interior Ministry, he added: "We have confirmed that there was no political interference in the electoral process. The problems that occurred, some of the violence and the assault on some individuals, were all documented and referred to the relevant authorities for follow-up without any leniency or interference."
Al-Hajjar also deemed that "winning by acclamation is a sound democratic process," adding that "there is nothing wrong with this matter from a legal standpoint."
