NNA - Tele-Communications Minister Charles Hage cast his vote in the municipal and mayoral elections in his hometown of Bteddine El-Laqsh thios afternoon.

He praised the electoral process and commended the efforts made to accomplish this entitlement under difficult security, political, and financial circumstances, hailing the sound leadership of the Minister of Interior who managed the electoral process with firmness, seriousness, and flexibility, ensuring it proceeded in the best possible manner.

"Holding municipal elections this year is in itself a significant reform effort, as it affirms the intention of the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, and the cabinet ministers to adhere to the most important foundations of democracy: regular election dates," Hajj underlined.

He continued: "National life is a responsibility that begins with the careful selection of local authorities and holding them accountable at the ballot box and before local and national public opinion for any shortcomings. Only the fear of being held accountable by public opinion motivates officials to give their best. Therefore, we rarely witness achievements where officials feel that the opinions of the people around them are irrelevant, especially if they are able to attain and maintain their positions regardless of the voters' opinions."
