NNA - Interior and Municipalities Minister, Ahmad Hajjar, on Saturday visited the Union of Tyre District Municipalities, accompanied by South Governor Mansour Daou. He was received by Tyre’s District Commissioner Mohammad Jaffal and Union Disaster Management Director Mortada Mehna.
In a statement, Hajjar emphasized the “special circumstances in the South, where land remains under occupation and Israeli aggression continues.” He noted that “Lebanon is engaged in continuous diplomatic efforts to enforce the ceasefire agreement, while also ensuring the safe conduct of the electoral process,” expressing hope for “lasting peace in Lebanon.”
The minister further praised the calm atmosphere throughout the elections, stating: “Yesterday and today have been peaceful, and I hope this calm extends not only beyond the vote counting but becomes permanent in the South and across Lebanon.”
Hajjar also commended the smooth election process, adding that “voters freely expressed their will, and we hope that newly elected municipal and mukhtar officials will serve their communities effectively.”
On reconstruction, Hajjar affirmed: “There is strong will among southerners and across Lebanon, along with government commitment to secure necessary funding. We hope these efforts will yield results soon.”
