NNA - Caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, on Thursday welcomed at the Grand Serail UN Resident Coordinator in Lebanon, Imran Riza. 

During the meeting, Riza presented to Mikati the development plan for the year 2024, addressing both economic and social situations in the southern region. Additionally, Prime Minister Mikati was briefed on Canada and Sweden's decision to re-fund UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees), expressing gratitude towards both countries for reconsidering their funding to UNRWA in Lebanon and urging other nations to continue supporting the agency.

Prime Minister Mikati later chaired a meeting attended by Minister of Communications, Johnny Corm, President of the Development and Reconstruction Council, Nabil al-Jisr, Director General of Investment and Maintenance at the Ministry of Communications, Bassel Al-Ayyoubi, Director General of Ogero, Imad Kreidieh, Director General of the Wire and Wireless Communications Construction and Equipment Authority, Naji Andraos, and several concerned officials. 

Following the meeting, Minister Corm stated: "Discussions during the meeting mainly focused on securing funding for the installation of solar energy devices provided as a gift from the Chinese government. We will launch a campaign to secure funding through communications with economic entities, the Industrialists Association, and relevant stakeholders, considering that internet access is a necessity for all citizens in the country, and we seek to continue providing the best service."

Prime Minister Mikati also received the Deputy Prime Minister, Saadeh Shami.
