​NNA - The Indian Battalion of UNIFIL has always been committed towards maintaining peace and harmony in South Lebanon. Apart from the operational tasks, the Indian Battalion has always helped the people of South Lebanon, throughout the process of sustained development.

The Indian Battalion has always taken initiative in spreading the message of peace amongst the people. On the BirthAnniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Indian Battalion of UNIFIL on 2nd Oct 2022 organised a Hiking for Peace and Harmony and Art Competition Theme - Peace, Non-Violence & Lebanon. The enthusiasm of all the participants of the event was spectacular and true reflection of the path of non-violence and peace.

​On 02 Oct 2022 a ceremony was organised at Mahatma Gandhi Park, Ebel-Es-Saqi to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi. The function was attended by His Eexcellency Dr Suhel Ajaz Khan, Ambassador of India to Lebanon, Brig Gen Ignacio Olazabal Elorz, CO, SECEAST, His Excellency Dr Elias Jradi, Member of Parliament, Ebel Es Saqi, Col Mohammed Abbass, representative of LAF South Litani Sector, Col Pierre Boutros, representative of LAF 7Th Brigade and other Civil Dignitaries of the INDBATT AO along with the people of the village. The ceremony was successful in spreading the virtues of Non-Violence and Peace thatwas preached by Mahatma Gandhi. The event was a testimony to the civil military relationship & the work being done by UNIFIL in maintaining peace of stability in South Lebanon.
