Minister Abiad receives at Baabda Governmental Hospital solar energy systems, medical supplies donated by Japan

NNA – Minister of Public Health, Dr. Firass Abiad, on Tuesday received at the “Baabda Governmental University Hospital” solar energy systems, medical supplies for intensive care, and a system for sterilizing government hospitals, donated by Japan.

The equipment was delivered to the Baabda Governmental Hospital, in the presence of Japanese Ambassador to Lebanon, Okubo Takeshi, and the Director of the United Nations Office for Project Services in the Regional Center in Jordan, Mohammad Othman Akram.

This donation is part of the "Urgent Support to Critical Health Facilities in Lebanon" Project, funded by the Japanese government, which was successfully completed through the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).

Also, a new project entitled "Urgent Support to the Health Sector in Lebanon" will be launched, aiming at providing a number of government hospitals with medical equipment and solar energy systems.

Today’s visit had been an opportunity for Minister Abiad to inaugurate the new “Department of Plastic Surgery” at the Baabda Governmental University Hospital, equipped with the latest medical equipment and surgical techniques.

In his delivered word, Minister Abiad said that this project is a headline for determination to rebuild the state through rebuilding its institutions, “as there is no homeland without a state and institutions that carry out their duties towards citizens and residents, especially for the most underprivileged segments.”
