NNA - Prime Minister Najib Mikati followed up this evening on the kidnapping of Lebanese citizen Imad Amhaz in the Batroun area, whereby he contacted Army Chief, General Joseph Aoun, who briefed him on the ongoing investigations into the circumstances of the incident.

Mikati also contacted the UNIFIL command, which confirmed that it is conducting the necessary investigations into the case and coordinating with the army in this regard.

The Prime Minister also asked the Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Abdallah Bou Habib, to submit an urgent complaint to the UN Security Council over what happened.

Mikati stressed the need to expedite the investigations to uncover the circumstances of this incident and put things in the right perspective.
